HMI Partners with Episcopal Migration Ministries as a Remote Placement Community Partner
We are thrilled to announce that Human Migration Institute (HMI) has been officially approved as a Remote Placement Community Partner (RPCP) with Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM). This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to support refugee resettlement and community integration, expanding our focus to welcome a broader range of newcomers.
What is a Remote Placement Community Partner?
As an RPCP, HMI will have the unique opportunity to resettle up to 49 individuals through the end of FY 2024, with the potential for extension. This role is crucial in extending support to refugees in areas that are at least 100 miles away from traditional resettlement affiliates. By becoming an RPCP, we are committing to providing essential services that ensure a smooth transition for newcomers settling into their new homes in the U.S.
Our Role and Responsibilities
As an RPCP, HMI will be responsible for delivering "core services" to our new neighbors for the first 90 days of their arrival. This comprehensive support includes:
Welcoming at the Airport: Ensuring a warm reception for refugees upon their arrival.
Securing Housing and Necessities: Finding suitable accommodations and providing basic essentials.
Assisting with School Enrollment: Enrolling children in local schools to support their educational journey
Providing English Classes for Adults: Offering language support to help adults integrate and thrive.
Medical and Employment Support: Facilitating access to healthcare and job opportunities.
Community Orientation: Helping refugees navigate their new environment and connect with local resources.
Our partnership with EMM also provides us with federal funding, virtual training, and ongoing coaching to ensure we are well-prepared to meet these responsibilities.
