Transportation Support Volunteers

Scope of Work:
Newly arrived refugees often face challenges getting to essential appointments. Help make their transition smoother by providing transportation to and from these crucial appointments around the Riverside area. Volunteers must have access to a car, be culturally sensitive, respectful of diverse backgrounds, self-motivated, and able to handle sensitive information confidentially. Your assistance will play a key role in helping refugees settle into their new community.
Location: Primarily off-site in the Riverside area (exact locations provided to volunteers).
Time Commitment:
As needed, based on staff or family requests, typically 2-4 hours per engagement.
Responsibilities:
Communicate with HMI staff about pick-up and drop-off logistics.
Escort clients to their appointment locations, ensuring they reach the correct office or room.
Assist clients with check-in by confirming their information.
Provide contact information to both office staff and clients for post-appointment pick-up.
Record hours and submit a completed timesheet monthly to HMI.
Requirements:
Available on an as-needed basis.
Reliable and detail-oriented.
Flexible and adaptable to change.
Excellent communication skills.
Valid driver’s license with current insurance.
Willingness to adhere to HMI volunteer and workplace policies, including confidentiality.
Preferred language skills in Dari/Pashto, Spanish, or native Guatemalan languages.
