Scope of Work:
As a Community Health Liaising Volunteer with HMI, you'll play a crucial role in helping newcomers access essential healthcare services and resources in their new community. Your work will ensure that individuals and families receive the medical support they need to maintain their health and well-being.
Time Commitment:
2 hours per week
A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
Location:
Remote, In-Home, or In-Office
Location of support provided will be based on the need of the client.
Responsibilities:
Resource Connection: Assist refugees in navigating and connecting with local healthcare providers and services.
Appointment Coordination: Help schedule medical appointments and provide transportation or guidance as needed.
Information Dissemination: Share information about available healthcare resources, including clinics, specialists, and public health services.
Qualifications:
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and assist individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of Healthcare Services: Familiarity with local healthcare resources and services is beneficial.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage appointments and coordinate between clients and healthcare providers.
Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and understanding of diverse backgrounds to build trust and ensure effective support.
