English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Tutor

Empower newcomers by providing specialized English tutoring tailored to their career goals. Help them gain the language skills needed to succeed in specific industries and achieve professional success in their new community.

 

Scope of Work:

As an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Tutor with HMI, you will provide specialized English language tutoring tailored to specific career fields. This focused support will empower newcomer learners to enhance their language skills in a way that directly benefits their professional aspirations, whether they're pursuing careers in healthcare, technology, business, or other fields.


Time Commitment:

2-4 hours per week (as needed)

Minimum 6-month commitment, 2-4 hours per week

Location:

Client's home, community centers, or another agreed-upon location.

Location of support provided will be based on the need of the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored English lessons focused on industry-specific vocabulary, communication, and skills.

  • Help clients practice and improve verbal and written communication within the context of their desired career paths.

  • Provide ongoing support and encouragement to help clients gain confidence in using English in professional settings.

  • Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and needs.

  • Assist clients in preparing for job interviews, presentations, and other work-related communication tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong command of the English language, with the ability to teach industry-specific terminology.

  • Experience or knowledge in a specific career field (e.g., healthcare, business, technology) is highly beneficial.

  • Culturally sensitive, patient, and able to work with diverse populations.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is helpful but not required.

  • Ability to handle sensitive client information with confidentiality.
