Opening Doors Through Education: HMI x MYA Collaboration
Education is one of the most powerful tools for rebuilding lives, and at HMI, we are committed to creating pathways that allow refugees and newcomers to thrive. On August 21st, HMI partnered with Motivated Youth Academy (MYA) to host an enrollment and welcome session at our office for eligible beneficiaries and their family members.
MYA provides U.S. high school diploma programs for refugees and newcomers over the age of 18 who cannot attend a traditional K–12 school, as well as for students who are unable to complete their A–G requirements. This unique program equips students with the skills, confidence, and credentials they need to pursue higher education and meaningful employment opportunities in the U.S.
During the session, participants had the chance to meet their MYA teacher, learn more about the curriculum, and complete their enrollment—marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their journey. For many, this is more than just an academic opportunity; it’s a chance to regain hope, build a future, and fully integrate into their new home.
We are deeply grateful to MYA for collaborating with HMI to make this program possible. Through this partnership, beneficiaries of our Afghan Newcomer Support Program (ANSP), Refugee Career Pathways (RCP), and ARSI initiatives are gaining access to education that not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens families and communities.
Together, HMI and MYA are ensuring that refugee youth and adults have the tools they need not just to adapt, but to succeed and thrive in the United States.
