Women's Day Celebration 2026

On Sunday, March 8th, HMI hosted a Women's Day celebration at Fairmount Park in Riverside, bringing together clients, volunteers, and community members for a day centered around creativity, wellness, and community engagement. The event was a reflection of HMI's ongoing commitment to creating meaningful experiences for the people we serve and the broader Riverside community.

Fairmount Park served as a welcoming setting for the occasion, providing an open and comfortable space where attendees could gather, participate, and connect throughout the day. The turnout was a testament to the strength of the community and the enthusiasm of everyone who showed up to be part of it.

The event featured a variety of hands-on activity stations designed to offer something for everyone. Attendees had the opportunity to explore painting, bouquet making, embroidery, bracelet making, and henna. Each station offered a creative outlet and a chance for participants to engage with one another in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. The variety of activities kept energy flowing throughout the day and encouraged attendees to try something new.

One of the highlights of the event was the affirmation circle, where women gathered to share kind and encouraging words with one another. A separate affirmation circle was held for children, where they had the chance to share words of appreciation and affirmation for their mothers — a standout moment that resonated with many in attendance.

Adding to the day's programming, Erin Edwards, Executive Director of Blue Zones Project Riverside, led a well-being activity with our clients. Her involvement brought an added dimension to the event, connecting participants with practical wellness concepts in an engaging and accessible way. We are grateful for her time and contribution to the day.

HMI would also like to extend a special thank you to representatives of Women at Amazon and the Black Employee Network at Amazon for their participation and support. Their presence added meaningful value to the event and reflects the kind of cross-community collaboration that makes occasions like this one so impactful.

A sincere thank you as well to all of our volunteers, whose hard work and dedication kept the program organized and running smoothly from start to finish. Events like this do not come together without people who show up and give their time, and it is truly appreciated.

HMI is proud to host events that serve and celebrate our clients and the wider Riverside community. We look forward to continuing to build on moments like these and creating more opportunities for connection, wellness, and community throughout the year.
